The Bourdon of the 63-bells Carillon known
as the Liberty Bell of Louvain

The University of Leuven, Belgium, features a 7-ton bourdon (bass bell) in its 63-bell University Carillon located in the Central Library. The bourdon was cast as a memorial to the United States for their efforts and support in World War I. The bourdon is known as the Liberty Bell of Louvain.

Around the shoulder of the bell are the emblems of the 16 sponsoring Engineering Societies, the Belgian Lion, and the American Eagle.
