The Republic of Texas Document Set contains authentic reproductions of the following original letters and documents:

  • Freemen of Texas 1835 - Calling Texans to arms. "Now's the day and now's the hour."
  • Texas Declaration of Independence 1836 - ending political connection with Mexico and installing an Independence Republic.
  • Resolution March 1st, 1845, signed by John Tyler - President of the US, giving the conditions by which Texas was to be admitted to the Union. Includes explanatory remarks.
  • Letter 1845 from the Texas Republic Acting Secretary of State - John Eldredge, giving the results of the voting on annexation.
  • Proclamation 1845 by Anson Jones - that the Constitution had been ratified by the people of Texas.
  • Letter 1845 from the President of the Texas Republic - Anson Jones, to James Polk, President of the United States, announcing that the Constitution had been ratified.
  • Letter 1845 from President Polk to Congress - submitting the evidence for admission of Texas to the Union.

Authentic replicas of the original documents are reproduced on sheets of antiqued parchment paper that look and feel old. Documents are folded once and packaged in a decorative 11" x 14" size envelope.
