Maple fife

Maple Fife
Product ID: 6290
Our Price $15.00

A traditional one piece, small bore fife with six tone finger holes made from maple and long brass ferules. The small bore makes this instrument easy to play for a beginner, with the high register particularly accessible. Packaged in a box and includes a finger chart/tune sheet. 16.5 inches in length. Manufactured by Cooperman.

The fife came to the early New World as a military instrument with European soldiers and a folk instrument with settlers. In 18th century Europe and her American colonies, one fifer and one drummer were assigned to each company regiment. It was of utmost importance that the company fifer and drummer know their signal calls and play them perfectly as lives depended on the fife and drum calling out orders on the battlefield and in the camp.
