From 1861-1865 the Confederate States of America did its best to produce this design of waist belt plate for its soldiers. They were not an item of issue to the Army of Northern Virginia, but had wide distribution in the Western Armies. As a substitute, many Confederate wore the U.S. waist belt plate, wearing it upside down.

Dimensions of buckle are 3 1/4 " x 2". Can be fitted up to a 1 1/2 inch belt blank.
