Abolitionist Token

Abolitionist Token - Man
Product ID: CA82
Our Price $2.75

Authentic reproduction an anti-slavery token from 1792. In that year, leaders of the Abolitionist Movement issued this copper token which was widely circulated to promote the cause. It portrays a male figure, kneeling and bound in chains with the legend, "Am I Not a Man and a Brother." The reverse of the token bears the clasped hands of brotherhood and the legend, "May Slavery and Oppression Cease Throughout the World."

Struck on both sides, the coin is cast in a pewter alloy which resembles the weight and feel of the original. The coin is electroplated in copper, antiqued and hand-burnished to faithfully duplicate the rich appearance of the old coin. The replica makes a distinctive gift for the history buff as well as serves as valuable a teaching aid. Packaged in a hard plastic sleeve to protect the coin (it can be easily removed from the sleeve.)

Small parts warning: Not recommended for children under 5 years of age. Keep small parts out of the reach of children who still put objects in their mouths.
